Rachael Spalding remembers every detail from the day her dad died amid a struggle with mental illness.

“I remember the day that I was told … I decided to recreate that,” said Spalding, 15, who is in Grade 10 at Bishop Ryan Catholic Secondary School.

In the painting she is sitting in a dark living room, her dyed-red hair messy, tears streaming down her face. It will be among 39 pieces on display at the Art Forms youth arts studio, 126 James St. N., during this Friday’s Art Crawl from 7 to 10 p.m.
