ABRADJIAN, Mark (President)
Mark is a lawyer practicing in the areas of commercial and estate litigation with the law firm of Ross & McBride LLP where he is the Chair of their Strategic Planning Committee. Mark is a member of various local, provincial, national and international legal associations. He serves on the Bench and Bar Committee of the Hamilton Law Association. He is a Board member of the Rotary Club of Hamilton AM. He was previously a Board member of the United Way of Haldimand Norfolk, serving as its Treasurer. Has also been a Board member of the Hamilton Mountain Legal and Community Services and the Ontario Legal Aid Plan Area Committee in Simcoe.
He is interested in social justice issues and would like to give back to his community.
BROWN, Dale (Vice President)
Dale is the Executive Assistant to Ward 1 Councillor Brian McHattie, City of Hamilton. She is an Instructor (occasional) in the CAW/McMaster Certificate Program (Labour Studies Department, McMaster University). She is a Board member of the Town and Gown Association of Ontario working on quality of life issues in municipalities with post-secondary institutions. She is also Past Chair of the Westmount School Council providing parent input on educational issues and has been a member of the Kirkendall Neighbourhood Association, Home & School Associations, HIEA-CAP (Hamilton Industrial Environmental Association – Community Advisory Panel).
She is very interested in increasing community engagement. Strong knowledge about social issues.
COOK, Tim (Secretary/Treasurer)
Tim is a Chartered Accountant and Manager at BDO Dunwoody LLP. He is a former Treasurer at the McMaster Children’s Centre Inc.
He wants to bring a youth perspective to the Board.
MEYER, Mary (Immediate Past President)
Mary is the Director of Children’s Services with the Children’s Aid Society of Hamilton. She has worked within the field of child welfare for the past twelve years. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University, Bachelor of Social Work from McMaster University and Masters of Social Work from the University of Toronto.
She has previously worked as Supervisor within the Ongoing Protection Service Department, front-line child protection worker within intake services, ongoing protection services, adolescent services and adoption service areas, and has worked in child welfare at Halton Children’s Aid Society, Haldimand-Norfolk Children’s Aid Society and Children’s Aid Society of Hamilton.
FOYE, Lynn
Lynn is a Social Worker at the City of Hamilton Community Services Department working over 11 years in the social work field. She is knowledgeable about Ontario Works and emergency shelter systems. She has been a member of the Sexual Assault Centre of Hamilton (SACHA) and past volunteer at the Hamilton Board of Education.
She wants to address the systemic and institutional practices that contribute to poverty. She is very interested to understand the relationship between social research and social work practice and to highlight the importance of research informing community development and public policy.
JANSSEN, Bill
Bill is a Planner with the Planning and Economic Development Department at the City of Hamilton with over 29 years of work experience in urban planning and development. He has experience in community development, research analysis, policy development, and working with non-profit groups. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of Wesley Community Homes and Brant Community Homes and involved in the activities of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute.
He is interested in applying work and volunteer skills and contribute to improving the quality of life in Hamilton.
MCPARTLIN, Doreen
Doreen is a Community Legal Worker/Paralegal for the Hamilton Mountain Legal & Community Services with experience in working with newcomers and diverse cultures. She is a previous Board member of the Neighbour to Neighbour Centre Food Bank.
She wants to contribute by bringing perspective on multicultural issues and legal knowledge.
QADIM, Samia
Samia has worked as a consultant in the areas of gender development, poverty alleviation, business development, human rights and environment with non profit and international aid and development agencies. She has taught business studies, sociology and economics at private institutions. She voices social justice issues through print and electronic media.
SALCICCIOLI, Carmen
Carmen is the Director of the Good Shepherd Centre with over 33 years of experience in social services. He was previously been a Program Manager at the Public Health and Community Services for the City of Hamilton. He is knowledgeable in social service, homelessness, income support, subsidized lodging for seniors and much more.
SARWAR, Nasir
Nasir is a Project Coordinator for Diversity in Police with the Hamilton Centre for Civic Inclusion with 15 years of experience in marketing and business development while working with multinationals. He is a member of the Hamilton Media Advisory Council, City Advisory Committee on Anti-racism, Canadian Evaluation Society, and the Grant Writers Association of Canada.
He wants to contribute by being an active member of the Hamilton community and help implement result oriented plans and strategies and develop more community engagement.
SPADAFORA, Dominic
Dominic has over 34 years of work experience in the Ontario Public Service with the Ministry of Community and Social Services and Children and Youth Services in the following areas: developmental services, social assistance, employment, family violence, homelessness and child care/early learning. He is currently self-employed in consulting/project management roles. He is a founding Board member of Niagara North Community Legal Assistance in St. Catharines when it began service in the early 1980s. He was the Provincial Government Chair of the Burlington and Greater Hamilton United Way in 2003-04. He has several years of volunteer service in youth recreation.
He is interested in promoting greater understanding and community responsiveness.
WILKIE, Debbie
Debbie is a Hamilton Police Officer with Hamilton Police Services with over 20 years of policing service. She is Vice-President of the Ontario Association of Police Educators and a member of the Wayside Board of Directors. She has completed training on hate crimes, racial profiling and much more.
