After weather-related delays, the Pride flag was flying at Hamilton City Hall on Monday.
Mayor Bob Bratina had previously requested that the city fly the rainbow flag for the duration of the Olympic Games, but some “serious ice issues on the roof” made it too dangerous for the workers to mount the flag.
On Friday, LGBTQ activist Deirdre Pike reached out on social media to inquire about the holdup.
The flag is being flown in cities across Canada to express solidarity with gay athletes as well as the LGBTQ community in Russia.
