The seeds are being planted in a new community garden for the Riverdale neighbourhood and surrounding area.
Riverdale Community Planning Team members, Green Venture program support staff and volunteers have been busy building the Riverdale Community Salad Bowl Garden at the park adjacent to Lake Avenue Elementary School.
The garden has been in the making for about two years.
The idea sprouted out of a need to grow food security in the neighbourhood, specifically access to fresh, organic produce. The need was identified through consultation with residents and outlined in a Neighbourhood Action Plan developed by the Social Planning and Research Council of Hamilton.
