LGBTQ+ Positive Space Training

The United Way Halton & Hamilton is sponsoring LGBTQ Positive Space Training for Youth Serving Agencies sponsored by the UWHH.

The training is offered by Deirdre Pike, Senior Social Planner, at the Social Planning and Research Council of Hamilton.


The training module takes place over two 2-hour sessions and participants receive a certificate upon completion of both sessions. All sessions will run from 9:00 – 11:00 am

Module 2: April 10 and 17 (Location: SPRC, Hamilton)

Module 3: April 18 and 25 (Location, TBD, Halton)


  • Increased understanding of LGBTQ+ Positive Space from a personal, organizational and political perspective
  • Organizations assisted in creation of equitable and inclusive spaces for LGBTQ+ staff and clients
  • Increased sensitivity to the presence of both subtle and overt forms of heterosexism, homophobia and transphobia
  • Outing the Conversation: Ways to become allies for LGBTQ+ communities and/or individuals
